Welcome to the website of the Scottish Bridge Union - North District.

The North District runs a number of events and competitions throughout the year. Some are district competitions and some are qualifiers for national competitions. All have trophies and other prizes on offer and, of course, master points - both local and national (red) points. Our current calendar of events is here.

The North District also promotes bridge through education for both children and adults. We have a number of accredited teachers and classes are held for all levels of experience. For more information, click here.

Sunday 31. of August 2008Cancellation of North District Autumn Congress

This Congress due to be held at the Rowett Institute, Bucksburn on 13th and 14th September has had to be cancelled because insufficient entries were received by the closing date in order to make either the Pairs or Teams viable events.  

The North District Council is disappointed and surprised by this apparent lack of support, particularly after the success of the Competition held at the Rowett last year, and the results of last year’s questionnaire that were generally in favour of holding such an event. The cancellation also means that we shall be unable to apply to hold a red Master Pointed Congress next year.

The organisers apologise to all those who have sent in entries – we believe that all concerned have already been contacted.

The Council are keen to understand the reasons behind this failure to be able to gain sufficient support to run a Congress.  Many of course could not attend because of holiday and other commitments but, if you have views on this topic, we would be very interested to receive feedback at webmaster(at)sbunorth.co.uk.
