Hand of the night from the British Legion Final on Friday, 11/3/05 at Colquhonie Hotel, Strathdon.

At our table it was played in 5S making 10 tricks, for +100 to us (N/S).  Our team-mates were in 5S Doubled, after North doubled a 5C bid, then 5H by South, who cannot stand 5C doubled to play, for -500 to us (E/W).  The scoring is Aggregate Teams of Four.

The E/W bidding above is by an illustrious Aberdeen pair (who were at the beginners Teams of Eight on Sunday).  Afterwards, they admitted East should bid 6C (which doesn't make either).

For the inexperienced, the 2S bid is a perfect example of a Michael's Cue Bid showing a minimum of 9 cards in the other Major and a Minor.  It is easy for South to bid 4H. (Ed: although many players will insist that the 2-suiter has better playing strength).
